All-New, All-Different Avengers 002 (Dec. 2015)

SPOILERS AHEAD! YE BE WARNED!

“And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born — to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand!

“But that day was… a while ago.

“There are plenty of hero teams active in the world, but none currently hold the legendary mantle of the Avengers. Not yet, anyway…

“Tony Stark sold Avengers tower, but that didn’t make it less of a target for super-powered villains: a Chitauri warlord named Warbringer showed up determined to wreak havoc un the planet of his arch-enemy, Nova, but the mysterious new owner of the tower convinced him to reassemble a powerful artifact instead. Warbringer defeated Captain America, Spider-Man, and Iron Man and took off to gather the scattered pieces of the artifact…” – All-New, All-Different Avengers 002 (Dec. 2015)

002

When we last left our heroes, Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man (not Peter Parker) were knocked out by the Chitauri warlord Warbringer. Spider-Man woke first and bound Captain America’s wounds with his webbing (That’s some MacGyver stuff right there!) and was pondering how to help the melted Iron Man when Vision showed up, integrated with Iron Man’s suit and override it to release the suffocating Tony Stark from within.

As Tony is released, we learn the man working with the Warbringer and the new owner of the former Avengers tower is Mr. Gryphon. The Avengers give Warbringer chase and head to Jersey City where Warbringer is in the process of stealing one piece of the artifact from a museum and is battling the arguing Ms. Marvel and Nova.

The team picks up Nova and Ms. Marvel and lay some smack-down on Warbringer. As he stops to make the usual villain speech he gets blasted by the female Thor. She shoots a lighting blast at Warbringer, it gets deflected by Mr. Gryphon and Warbringer escapes. Unfortunately, the blast still has to go somewhere… TO BE CONTINUED…

This is the comic I was waiting for! I have been eager to see the whole team together and was curious as to how they were going to swing that (pun intended). I have no clue who the new Spider-Man is (I am not a big Spider-Man fan), but I like what I have seen of him so far. He is funny and has some of the same wit as the Peter Parker Spider-Man. I am not a fan of the female Thor (what I call the Abomination) and it was a sort of buzz-kill to see her come to save the day. (Team Odinson FTW!) I really love how Spider-Man made his way to Jersey City. I had thought he would have used his webslingers, but having him surf on Iron Man was hilarious! I might have to give the new Spider-Man comic a read whenever that comes out. Until next time!
