4th Day of Christmas: Rise of the Guardians

12DaysofChristmas

Welcome to Hacker Lab.net’s countdown to Christmas! The 12 Days of Christmas are here!

On the 4th Day until Christmas, we are watching:

Rise of the Guardians! This movie has quickly become a favorite of mine. Chris Pine, aka the new Captain Kirk, plays Jack Frost, a spirit of winter. He is saddened no one can see or hear him, save the other Holiday spirits, and he just wants to be believed in. He has no memories of his life before becoming Jack Frost. A pretty lonely existence.

I love the view of Santa’s workshop and the incompetent elves. They crack me up. The Yetis are a nice touch. Alec Baldwin did a fabulous job as Santa. So perfect! We see our heroes the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Santa, and the Sand Man. Our villain is none other than the Boogie Man, played by Jude Law who gives us an amazing over the top performance. Another group of heroes for this film are the children, mainly Jamie. A little boy who believes in the impossible. Hugh Jackman as the Easter Bunny is great. I don’t generally get to hear Hugh Jackman’s natural accent in movie a whole lot. It is refreshing to hear. Very sexy.

The movie, though adorable!, has a lot of great lessons to teach the little ones, like Captain Little Dude. Everyone is not just what you see on the outside. We all have something special on the inside that makes us who we are. It is our center. Santa’s is Wonder. Jack Frost has Fun. The Easter Bunny has Hope. The Tooth Fairy has Light which is a sad description for the Keeper of the Precious Memories of Childhood. Each tooth contains a memory from childhood. The Sand Man is the bringer of good dreams. Even the little boy Jamie is shown to have a special center, belief in the impossible. It also teaches them about Faith and believing in yourself. Good lessons all around. A great addition to any Holiday collection.
