Shaving Journal – April 2014 & My Shaving Kit

This month I am trying something new, I am changing the blade at the start of each week and I am working on getting into the habit of shaving on a regular scheduled. These Voskhod Double Edge Razor Blades are nice and give a smooth, comfortable shave the first few times. Then I noticed the quality of the shave starts to drop. So far this has been working out pretty good. Looks like these blades are good for 3 or 4 shaves at best.

I am still rocking the Shaving Factory Double Edge Safety Razor that I got last October. While it does the job I have been thinking about getting another razor. Next one I would like it to be a bit heavier with a longer handle.
My main mug that I keep my soap in came from the Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Set, and is the main reason that I bought the set. I got it, because I was tired of my soap staying wet in the plastic clam shell packaging it came in. I also have a 4 1/2″ fruit bowl that I originally bought to keep the soap in, but as it has a rounded bottom it proved unstable for the task and I have been using it to soak my brush in before lathering.
My shaving stand is also from the Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Set. I had been laying my brush on it’s side to dry, but since I started to use the stand I notice it dries faster.
My Escali 100% Pure Badger Shaving Brush is quite nice. Feels nice on the face and holds quite a bit of water, I have discovered. I also use the brush from the Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Set. It is far more stiff and holds less water but gets the job done.
I also have a few spare pucks of soap, Mainly VDH and Williams Mug Soap, and some aftershaves.
